EU bans single-use sauce and sugar sachets in restaurants from August 2026

From 12 August 2026, the first stage of EU regulations limiting single-use packaging in hospitality and food service came into force. Restaurants will gradually phase out individual sachets of sauces, ketchup and sugar. The rules aim to reduce plastic and paper waste generated by the catering industry.
