Rocky planet ingredients appeared just 100 million years after the Big Bang
New research suggests the raw materials for rocky planets, and possibly even water needed for life, were available just 100 million years after the Big Bang — far earlier than previously thought, before the first galaxies had formed. The finding challenges models that treated planet formation as a slow, billion-year process. Scientists say the building blocks of worlds were ready remarkably early in cosmic history.
