Nazi lawyers returned to West German courts unpunished after WWII
Most lawyers who collaborated with the Nazi regime in the Third Reich subsequently returned to positions within West Germany's justice system after the war. This continuity ensured their impunity and allowed them to continue discriminating against former dissidents. The phenomenon represents a major failure of de-Nazification in the West German legal apparatus.
