Cybersecurity expert: Poland's government should auto-freeze PESEL numbers after data breach
Cybersecurity researcher Dr Łukasz Olejnik warns that Poland's largest-ever personal data breach opens the door to identity theft, fraud, blackmail and targeted impersonation. Health data of politicians, military personnel and judges could be exploited for intelligence purposes or coercion. Olejnik calls on the Polish government to automatically freeze PESEL identity numbers for all affected citizens rather than leaving individuals to protect themselves.
