Eurovision Bars Winners Involved in Armed Conflicts From Hosting the Contest

The European Broadcasting Union updated Eurovision's rules on August 12: a winning country cannot host the following year's contest if it is involved in an armed conflict or a "sensitive geopolitical situation" that could threaten the safety of the event. The changes follow the EBU's annual review of the competition's regulations. The new rules come amid ongoing controversy over Israel's participation in recent editions.
