Brazil mass-produces disease-fighting mosquitoes to combat tropical illnesses

A mosquito factory in Brazil is producing millions of mosquitoes infected with the Wolbachia bacterium, which when released suppress the spread of tropical diseases such as dengue and Zika. Scientists see the programme as a response to the growing threat of infectious diseases in a warming world. Reporter Apoorva Mandavilli visited the facility and described the scale of the operation.
