Fake "Roman amphitheatre" in Italy charged tourists up to €40 to enter

A site in Arcugnano near Vicenza, marketed for years as an ancient Roman amphitheatre, has been exposed as a modern fake built in the early 21st century. Italian prosecutors found the ruins — complete with columns and an artificial lake — had nothing to do with antiquity. Tourists paid up to €40 per visit, and prosecutors are treating the case as premeditated fraud.
