Medvedev threatens Japan with "monstrous consequences" over Kuril Islands remarks

Dmitry Medvedev has threatened Japan with "monstrous consequences" following remarks by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who described the Kuril Islands as "historically Japanese." Medvedev said Japan's claims over the Kurils would change nothing. Takaichi had also made pointed remarks directed at Vladimir Putin, which further angered the Russian official.
