Data of 19 million Poles leaked from MyDr — how to protect your PESEL number

A cyberattack on the systems of company MyDr has exposed personal data, including PESEL numbers, of approximately 19 million Polish citizens. Digitalisation Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski is urging all Poles to freeze their PESEL number via the mObywatel app or at a local government office. The process online involves logging into mObywatel and activating the PESEL freeze option in profile settings; in-person, a written request at an office suffices.
