MUFG to pilot real-time blockchain settlement for Japanese government bonds

Japanese banking giant MUFG is preparing a proof-of-concept for settling Japanese government bond (JGB) trades in real time using the Canton blockchain network. The pilot aims to test whether blockchain can be used for on-chain settlement of sovereign debt instruments. It is among the first major banks to attempt such an application for government bond trading.
