400 tonnes of onions rot in a field in Radostowo — farmer invites public to pick for free
Farmer Tomasz Wilk from Radostowo in Lower Silesia was unable to sell 350–400 tonnes of white onions after buying centres offered just 18 grosze per kilogram — below the cost of production. Rather than plough the crop under, he invited local residents to harvest it themselves from eight hectares. This year's onion harvest proved exceptionally large, causing a collapse in purchase prices.
