Russian startup claims its multicathode litho tool can expose a wafer in five minutes

A Russian startup has unveiled a multicathode electron-beam lithography project that its developers say could expose a silicon wafer in five to seven minutes, compared to one to two weeks for older single-beam machines. Lead developer Evgeny Givargizov confirmed the multicathode has been built and tested, with electron beam tips measuring 1.5 to 2 nanometers wide. However, a complete lithography machine is still years away from being built, meaning established players like Belgium's IMEC face no immediate threat.
