Pay by glance: face and palm biometrics roll out in Australian retail

Verifone, which operates 300,000 Eftpos terminals across Australia, is launching a biometric payment system allowing customers to pay using face or palm-vein scans instead of a card. Shoppers must opt in by registering their biometric data, with the promise of faster checkouts. The rollout is expected to be gradual.
