US regulator OCC opens bank charter process to crypto firms

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced that reviving the de novo bank chartering process remains a priority, commending the FDIC for its parallel efforts on deposit insurance applications. Comptroller Jonathan V. Gould declared that "America and the OCC are once again open for business." The move provides a federal pathway for some of the largest crypto companies to obtain national bank charters in the United States.
