Criminal complaint filed in Germany against Meta smart glasses over covert filming

Berlin-based non-profit HateAid has filed a criminal complaint against Meta, Ray-Ban, Oakley and several retailers, alleging the sale of Meta smart glasses breaches Germany's Telecommunications, Digital Services and Data Protection Act. The complaint centres on the glasses' ability to covertly film people without their consent. Meta said the devices were approved by German regulators. The case follows a wave of reports about people being filmed unknowingly or capturing intimate footage reviewable by Meta contractors.
