MIT neuroscientists: the brain reasons without language
MIT neuroscientists have found strong evidence that language and logical reasoning are powered by separate brain systems. People with severe language impairments caused by stroke solved challenging logic puzzles just as well as unimpaired participants. Brain scans confirmed that language-processing regions stayed largely quiet during reasoning tasks, suggesting thought does not require words.
