Keratin from sheep's wool regrows bone better than collagen scaffolds
Keratin extracted from sheep's wool was used to create scaffolds that helped damaged bone regenerate in animal tests. The resulting tissue was more organised and structurally closer to healthy bone than tissue grown on conventional collagen scaffolds. The finding could turn an abundant agricultural byproduct into a valuable new tool for regenerative medicine.
