Etna eruption shuts Katania airport — disruption to last at least through Thursday
An eruption of Mount Etna has paralysed Catania airport in Sicily, stranding approximately 30,000 travellers. The airport is not expected to resume normal operations until at least Thursday, at the height of the tourist season. The disruption has been ongoing for several days, leaving many holidaymakers unable to return home.
