After a PESEL data leak, expert warns vigilance needed for months
Legal expert Dr Marlena Sakowska-Baryła, professor at the University of Łódź, warns that blocking a PESEL number after a data breach is only the first step. Victims should also change compromised passwords and remain alert to phishing and impersonation attempts for many months after the incident. She stresses that the consequences of a data leak can be felt long after the breach itself.
