Miastko hospital suspended surgery ward while private doctors' firm raked in millions
The municipal hospital in Miastko suspended its surgery ward ten times over two years, turning patients away, while a private neurosurgeons' company performed more profitable procedures billed in breach of regulations. The National Health Fund (NFZ) was not notified of the suspensions. The debt-ridden, penalised facility ceased operations at the start of August.
