Miastko hospital earned 300,000 zlotys a day from fictitious hospitalisations

Miastko Municipal Hospital closed its surgery ward and turned patients away while a private neurosurgeons' company billed the National Health Fund for fictitious hospitalisations on the closed ward, earning up to 300,000 zlotys per day. Wirtualna Polska found the hospital bypassed procedures and failed to notify the NFZ of the ward's suspension. The facility now faces closure following an NFZ audit.
