Survivor's pension: nearly one million recipients, PLN 22.8 bn paid out
In June this year, 993,400 people were receiving the survivor's pension (renta wdowia), and around 1.1 million widows and widowers had received at least one payment since the programme began, the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) reported. More than PLN 22.8 billion was spent on the benefit in the first half of the year alone. The programme has proved to be one of the more expensive social benefits in recent years.
