Poland's ZUS to automatically write off pre-1999 debts without applications

The Polish government has approved a deregulation bill that would automatically write off debts owed to the social insurance institution ZUS that date from before 1999, including interest and enforcement costs, with no application required from debtors. The Cabinet also wants to speed up the handling of disputes with ZUS and assist victims of dishonest contractors under a pro-ecological government programme.
