Germany lets Taliban staff Afghan missions in exchange for deportations — dissidents alarmed

Germany under Chancellor Merz has struck a deal allowing Taliban officials to staff Afghan diplomatic missions in the country, in exchange for more deportations of Afghan nationals. Afghan dissidents and activists who fled Taliban persecution say the arrangement puts them at direct risk inside Germany. Zarmina Paryani, jailed twice in Kabul for protesting against the Taliban, says she and her sisters now fear their persecutors will reach them on German soil.
