UK households near upgraded pylons to get £250 annual electricity bill discount

The UK government has revealed the first sites covered by its "pounds for pylons" scheme, under which households within 1,600 feet (about 490 metres) of upgraded electricity pylons will receive £250 a year off their electricity bills. The programme is designed to compensate residents for living near new high-voltage infrastructure as Britain upgrades its energy grid.
