Kopeć grabbed a last-chance spot in the 100m final and took it — Poland's best sprint result in 44 years

Dominik Kopeć was initially left out of the 100m final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, finishing just two hundredths of a second behind Britain's Louie Hinchliffe. When Hinchliffe withdrew injured, Kopeć stepped in and finished fifth in cold, headwind conditions — Poland's best European Championships sprint result in 44 years. Gold went to Britain's Romell Glave.
