Brain-inspired AI chip detects arrhythmia twice as fast as conventional AI

Researchers have developed an AI chip modelled on the cerebellum that ignores routine data and reacts only to unexpected events, using 10,000 times fewer calculations than conventional AI. In simulated ECG tests, it detected irregular heartbeats within one-fifth of a heartbeat with 98% accuracy — twice as fast as standard systems. The findings were published on July 10 in Nature Communications.
