2.4 million Afghan girls barred from secondary school five years after Taliban takeover
A UN agency reports that five years after the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, approximately 2.4 million girls remain excluded from secondary education. The ban is one of the most sweeping examples of the systematic exclusion of women and girls from public life since the Taliban returned to power. The UN warns that the situation has not improved.
