NASA funds single-spacecraft concept to scout solar system resources
NASA's Institute for Advanced Concepts has funded a study into a single small spacecraft that would visit multiple asteroid and lunar sites in sequence rather than requiring dedicated probes for each location. The craft would analyse resource composition from tens of kilometres away using spectrographs, making the survey far cheaper than current methods. The concept aims to support future in-situ resource utilisation for human expansion into the solar system.
