Polish government moves to write off pre-1999 ZUS debts
The Council of Ministers approved a draft law on writing off debts owed to ZUS (the Polish Social Insurance Institution) that arose before 1 January 1999, prior to the social insurance reform. Government spokesman Adam Szłapka said the cost of recovering these debts exceeds their total value. The bill will now proceed through the legislative process.
