Aleksander Milinkiewicz, Belarusian opposition leader and friend of Poland, has died

Aleksander Milinkiewicz, a Belarusian intellectual, opposition leader and close friend of Poland, has died. He was the opposition's presidential candidate and a symbol of the struggle for a democratic, European future for Belarus. His supporters believed that under his leadership, Belarus could already be a member of the European Union today.
