Solar eclipse on Aug 12 — looking without a filter risks permanent eye damage

A partial solar eclipse will be visible in Poland on August 12, coinciding with the peak of the Perseid meteor shower the same evening. Looking at the Sun without certified solar filters can cause severe, permanent eye damage or total vision loss. Standard sunglasses offer no adequate protection — only purpose-made solar viewing filters are safe.
