Damascus court sentences Bashar al-Assad to death

A Syrian court in Damascus found former president Bashar al-Assad guilty of deliberate mass murder, torture, arbitrary detention and crimes against humanity, state agency SANA reported. The verdict is a historic judgment against the dictator who ruled Syria for over two decades. Al-Assad has been in exile in Russia since the fall of his regime.
