Draining Siemianówka reservoir to save the Narew? Locals outraged
Low water levels in the Narew River have prompted the authorities of Narew National Park to consider partially draining the Siemianówka reservoir. The reservoir was created over 40 years ago following the forced resettlement of hundreds of villagers from the surrounding area. Former residents and their descendants are furious, saying they did not pay such a heavy price only to see the reservoir emptied.
