Black midwife crosses 'maternity deserts' in Alabama to help Black moms and babies

A new March of Dimes report finds that more than half of U.S. counties have no hospital with a labour and delivery unit. A Black midwife in Alabama is working across so-called maternity deserts to reach mothers who lack access to care. Her efforts are especially vital for Black women, who face disproportionately higher rates of maternal complications in the United States.
