American Airlines jet hits birds after takeoff — engine catches fire

An American Airlines flight from Myrtle Beach to Charlotte in the United States struck birds shortly after takeoff, causing one of the engines to catch fire. Passengers witnessed flames coming from the engine. The incident ended without casualties among those on board.
