Perseid meteor shower and solar eclipse draw crowds to the Canary Islands in August

The Canary Islands will host two major astronomical events in August: the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, known in Spain as "Saint Lawrence's Tears", and a partial solar eclipse on 12 August. The archipelago ranks among the world's best stargazing destinations. Authorities have introduced traffic restrictions at the most popular viewing spots to manage expected crowds.
