Russia's Arctic edge: nuclear icebreakers give Moscow a strategic lead over NATO
Russia holds a significant military advantage in the Arctic, most notably through its fleet of nuclear-powered icebreakers — the world's largest — which enable strategic operations in extreme ice conditions. Russian Arctic capabilities substantially outpace those of most NATO members both in navigation and power projection.
