Australia sets $31.30/hour minimum wage for gig delivery drivers

Australia's Fair Work Commission has issued a minimum standards order for gig economy delivery drivers, setting a floor rate of $31.30 per hour. The order, which takes effect on 17 August, also requires platform operators to provide injury insurance for drivers delivering food, drinks or groceries on demand. The ruling has been described as world-leading in gig worker protections.
