Aleksander Milinkiewicz, symbol of Belarus's democratic opposition, dies aged 79

Aleksander Milinkiewicz, one of the most prominent figures of the Belarusian democratic opposition, died on 11 August at the age of 79. He had been living in exile outside Belarus in recent years. He was internationally recognised as a leading face of the democratic movement opposing Alexander Lukashenko's regime.
