Total solar eclipse over Europe on 12 August — where to watch and how to stay safe

On Wednesday evening, 12 August, a total solar eclipse will be visible across parts of Europe. The path of totality covers northern and central Spain, a sliver of Portugal, and parts of Greenland and Iceland. A partial eclipse of the setting sun will be visible across much of western Europe, including the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland and northern Italy.
