India: student leader hospitalised after police use force at Jharkhand protest

Student leader Devendra Nath Mahto was hospitalised after police used tear gas, batons and water cannons against protesters marching to the Jharkhand state Assembly. Mahto had joined the march despite being on a nine-day hunger strike. The Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) condemned the police action as "inhuman."
