András Baka elected Hungary's new president — a symbol of judicial independence fight
Hungary's National Assembly elected András Baka as the country's new president on Tuesday, with votes from the TISZA party. Baka is regarded as a symbol of resistance against judicial reforms pushed through by the Fidesz-KDNP coalition. He replaces Tamás Sulyok, who was removed from the post in July.
