Shop inflation hits record low in July at 1.9% — but rise expected ahead

Shop prices for food and everyday goods rose by an average of 1.9% year-on-year in July — the lowest reading on record according to a UCE Research and WSB Merito University study. Experts warn, however, that inflationary pressures are already building and the trend is likely to reverse in coming months. Rising labour and raw material costs are among the factors expected to push prices higher.
