London police seize 90 supercars worth $10.8m, including a $5m Ferrari Monza

Police took 90 cars worth $10.8 million across the city’s richest districts.

The haul set a record over the operation’s five-year history for size and value.

Other seized cars included a Lamborghini Revuelto, a Cullinan, and a 911 GT3.

Anti-social driving is taken seriously in urban areas across the UK. When London’s Metropolitan Police ran a targeted enforcement operation in some of the capital’s wealthiest districts over the weekend, plenty of high-end machinery came under scrutiny. Even so, officers found a few surprises. One was the driver of a rare Ferrari Monza SP2 who allegedly lacked the proper license and insurance, despite the very serious metal they were piloting.

The Monza, an example of which recently sold for around $5 million (£3.7 million), had reportedly been in the UK for a single day when police stopped it. The driver had been at the wheel for less than half an hour, according to the Metropolitan Police, and allegedly held only a provisional licence with no insurance. The open-top speedster was the headline catch in a wider crackdown across Hyde Park, Kensington, and Chelsea between August 7 and 9.

Officers seized 90 vehicles worth more than £8 million ($10.8 million), making it the operation’s biggest haul in both number and value over its five-year history. Among the vehicles were a Lamborghini Revuelto , a Lamborghini Urus, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a Porsche 911 GT3, A Bentley Continental, multiple Range Rovers, BMWs, and Mercedes.

Not every stop involved an exotic, though. The operation focused on uninsured drivers, dangerous driving, and cars used in anti-social behavior. Officers seized 15 vehicles using newer powers that allow them to take a car immediately instead of issuing a warning first. Last year’s version of the enforcement action resulted in 72 seizures.

The stops also uncovered other alleged offenses. Police arrested one man after finding 19 bank cards in other people’s names and more than £2,500 ($3,350) in cash. Another uninsured driver was allegedly carrying £5,500 ($7,400) and was arrested on suspicion of drug offenses.

It remains unclear whether the Monza’s driver owned the car. Either way, the lesson is pretty straightforward. Driving with courtesy and within the law is always the smart way to go. When you’re not properly insured , driving in an anti-social way is even dumber than it already is on its own.
