US judge drops criminal charges against billionaire Gautam Adani

Brooklyn federal judge Nicholas Garaufis on Monday dismissed fraud and bribery charges against Indian billionaire Gautam Adani after the Justice Department moved to drop the case. The judge questioned Adani directly on whether any promises were made in exchange for the dismissal. In November 2024, before the charges were unsealed, Adani had pledged to invest $10 billion in the United States. The Adani Group has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
