YouTube doubles watch-hour threshold for creators to start earning money

YouTube has doubled the watch-hour requirement for creators wanting to start earning money on the platform. New creators must now accumulate at least 8,000 qualified watch hours over the past year, up from the previous 4,000, or reach 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. The change makes it significantly harder for new channels to begin monetising.
