China's Long March 7A rocket explodes 85 seconds after liftoff

A Long March 7A rocket operated by China's state-owned CASC exploded on August 10 approximately 85 seconds after lifting off from the Wenchang Space Launch Site on Hainan Island. The explosion occurred while the vehicle was still in Earth's atmosphere, producing a massive fireball and debris cloud. The mission is expected to be a total loss of both vehicle and payload; CASC had not released an official statement at the time of reporting.
