Europe's heat wave to cost EU €180bn — wiping out all expected economic growth

A Triodos Bank analysis estimates Europe's brutal summer heat will cost the EU economy €180 billion — roughly 1% of GDP and equivalent to all the growth the bloc was expected to generate. France faces a 0.6% contraction, while the Netherlands could see near-zero expansion. Lost labour productivity in extreme heat is the biggest single drag, estimated at around 0.6 percentage points of GDP.
