CDC links 16% rise in ER visits to habitual cannabis use — "scromiting" gets its own code

A new CDC report has linked an abrupt 16% rise in emergency room visits to habitual cannabis use, specifically cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome — colloquially known as "scromiting" (screaming and vomiting). Patients report nausea, vomiting and severe abdominal pain. The condition has now been assigned its own ER diagnostic code, which will make tracking the scale of the problem easier.
